Launch of the C4DISC Toolkit for Disability Equity

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Toolkit for Disability Equity, a comprehensive resource designed to advance disability equity in scholarly communications. This toolkit offers practical guidance, strategies, and tools to create more inclusive environments for individuals with disabilities. As a community-led project, our goal was to focus our resource on the needs of disabled people, while also incorporating best practices for engaging around disability issues in the scholarly communication workplace.

The toolkit covers essential topics such as:

Including disability equity in the scholarly communications workplace is crucial – approximately 16% of the world’s working-age population has a disability. Many of these disabilities are hidden, meaning you may not even be aware that your colleagues have them. By fostering an inclusive environment, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to contribute their best work and feel valued within our community.

We believe that this toolkit will be a valuable asset in our collective efforts to promote equity and inclusion within our community. We encourage you to explore the toolkit and integrate its principles into your daily practices.

With huge thanks and gratitude to all of those who have worked hard over some time voluntarily to make this Toolkit a reality – these committee members are listed here.
