Welcome to the C4DISC DEIA Community of Practice

Last year, C4DISC surveyed its member and partner organizations to ensure we understand the priorities and challenges our community of partners and members is facing.

We received useful information from respondents of varied organizational types and job roles. One thing that was clear is that you would welcome hearing from and learning from each other. You want to share resources and best practices, hear of challenges and successes, to explore opportunities for participating in cross-industry initiatives, to coordinate effort, and to speak with one voice to increase effectiveness. C4DISC feels we are well-placed to do the work of building such a forum and to that end, we have developed a peer-to-peer community of interest to build trusted connections and provide knowledge-sharing opportunities.

We held an exploratory call earlier this year which showed us how valuable this Community can be and are now officially launching the new DEIA Community of Practice!

Join the Community by completing this short form where we can collect some brief information and enable you to share your priorities for discussion. You will be notified of bimonthly community calls and added to the Community Discussion Google Group.

We welcome all who are working to further DEIA initiatives to join us for the first community call  via Zoom on August 10, 2023, 11am EST (time zone converter). This call will be an opportunity to learn about DEIA work already happening in the community, to share strategies, and to surface topics that warrant more in-depth discussion.  We encourage participation by anyone who has a dedicated DEIA role as well as others with a DEIA remit as part of their role, whether in a paid or volunteer capacity.

We need your help to fulfill our mission to build equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in scholarly communications and hope you will join us on this call or a future one. Calls will usually be held on the second Thursday of every other month.
